Oct. 1 Conference - University of Richmond

The program features a look back at Margaret Mitchell's quest to publish her Civil War story, a look inside the media frenzy that surrounded VCU's  Final Four appearance, a look at modern warfare through the eyes of a journalist embedded on the front lines, and a look at what it takes to change your career path and become an entrepreneur.

8 – 9 a.m. Registration in foyer outside Richmond Room; (the Richmond Room is on the lower level of the Heilman Dining Center)  Continental breakfast; silent auction and book sales begin 

9 a.m.  Welcome and keynote address by VPW Ellen Brown speaking on the book "Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind:  A Bestseller's Odyssey from Atlanta to Hollywood"

9:45 a.m.  Break and move to Tyler Haynes Commons, third floor, for break-out sessions

10 a.m.  Choose from:

“Surprise. It’s Your Time. Right Now – VCU PR and the Final Four” Pamela DiSalvo Lepley and Anne Buckley

“Embedded: Documenting War from the Frontlines of Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan” Robert Hodierne 

“So What Now? Changing Gears and Building New Career Paths” Joeffrey Trimmingham

11:15 a.m.  Break-out sessions repeat

12:15 p.m. Return to the University Club for a wine and cheese reception, more silent auction and book sales and signings.

 1 p.m. Buffet Luncheon in Richmond Room; Presentation of Newsmaker Award Rowena Fullinwider
