Join fellow VPW members for a tour and reception at the Byrd Theatre, 2908 W. Cary St., in the Carytown section of Richmond. We will gather at the theater and be led on a free tour of the theater by its general manager.
From 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., we will enjoy a reception, hosted by the University of Richmond, on the theater’s mezzanine level. (Please note: the theater is not handicapped accessible. The reception will be upstairs.)
The Byrd Theatre was built in 1928 as one of the nation’s Grand Movie Palaces. Today it is both a state and national historic landmark. The 1,300-seat theater, named after William Byrd, one of the founders of Richmond, is one of the nation’s finest cinema treasures. For more historical information, visit www.byrdtheatre.com.
Dinner is on your own following the reception. Carytown, Richmond's "Mile of Style," is the location of a great variety of restaurants.
