Virginia Press Women hosted the annual conference of the National Federation of Press Women Richmond in September 2007. Here is a sample of press coverage:

  • Irene Cimino, our treasurer, and her husband Bill are new parents of twins, Stephen Braidwood and Electra Donatella, born Jan. 22 in Richmond.

  • Cynthia Price is the new director of the NFPW Public Relations Committee, and Pamela Stallsmith has joined the NFPW board as as co-chairman of membership.
     
  • Honorary member Adriana Trigiani (seated in photo right) spoke Feb. 28 at the 2007 Commonwealth Catholic Charities Community Service Awards dinner and signed books, including her newest, Home to Big Stone Gap. Fans in the audience included VPW members (from left) Pam Stallsmith, Cynthia Price, Rosemary Dietrick and Julie Campbell. Adriana will be the Friday luncheon keynote speaker on Sept. 21 at the NFPW conference in Richmond.
     
  • The YWCA of Richmond's 2007 Outstanding Women Awards includes VPW member Jann Malone, book editor of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

  • Myrtle Barnes, a longtime member active in VPW, former managing editor of the Daily Press and Times-Herald in Newport News, a member of the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame, and a founding board member of the Virginia Coalition for Open Government, died Feb 8, 2007.
